The PhD Office invites all incoming doctoral students to PhD Orientation Week 2026, taking place from 7 to 11 September 2026.

This is a week of events and workshops designed to help new students navigate doctoral studies smoothly and confidently. The programme covers your rights and responsibilities, key deadlines, the people around you, and your own work. The transition to a PhD brings greater freedom, but also greater uncertainty — along with many things that are often not formally taught. That is exactly why the programme has been put together.

The Vice-Rector for Doctoral Studies, prof. Dr. Ing. Michaela Rumlová, is contacting supervisors separately to ask them to support their students' participation and to release them from other duties where necessary.

Most of the programme runs in English, the language of science, research, and doctoral study.

We look forward to welcoming you at PhD Orientation Week and hope the programme gives you a confident and smooth start to your doctoral studies.

You do not need to attend the entire week.

We strongly recommend coming 

• on Monday for Orientation Day and
• completing the mandatory health and safety training on Friday.
• For the days in between, choose whichever workshop is most relevant to you right now.
