Pedagogical activities

The conditions for pedagogical activity of doctoral candidates are regulated by the Doctoral Study Regulations (specifically Appendix 2) and further by  decrees of the Rector and the respective Dean (see the documents section).

As a rule, preparation for obtaining a doctoral degree for PhDs in years 1–4 includes the regular acquisition of pedagogical competences related to the creation of a dissertation thesis according to the ISP (Individual Study Plan). Involvement in teaching or other pedagogical activities is based on the voluntary activity of the doctoral candidate and its form and scope are agreed upon with the Head of the Department at UCT Prague, or with the Head of the Training Workplace, and the Supervisor. Specifications of any involvement in pedagogical activities may be included in the ISP. Any involvement in pedagogical activity must not be at the expense of the candidate's main research project.

The maximum limit for pedagogical activities that form a standard part of a doctoral candidate's preparation for a PhD degree is 5 points per academic year. Up to this set limit, pedagogical activity is not remunerated beyond the guaranteed doctoral income. Pedagogical activity exceeding this limit must be approved by the supervisor.
