Procedure
The admission process is governed by the current Rector’s Decree and other UCT Prague documents (available below on this page).
Applicants apply for a specific dissertation topic announced by a specific prospective supervisor.
Before submitting an application, the applicant must contact the supervisor listed for the chosen dissertation topic and arrange to confirm the intent to apply for that topic.
UCT Prague and its faculties admit applicants to doctoral study programs who have successfully completed a master’s study program. Students in the final year of their master’s program may also undergo the admission process; however, their admission is conditional on the successful completion of their master’s program.
Another requirement for admission to the doctoral study program is medical fitness for the respective doctoral study program.
In case of foreigners applying for study in DSP provided in the Czech language, the admission board assesses the Czech language skills.
- Check the list of PhD study programmes and dissertation thesis
- Contact a Supervisor listed in the chosen Dissertation Thesis and get his/her approval to apply
- Fill out the ELECTRONICAL APPLICATION SYSTEM (EAS)
- Supervisor approval: It has to be proven to the faculty that the Supervisor is informed about the Applicant and the topic she/he has chosen. This approval has to be uploaded to the EAS prior to submitting the application. Two alternatives are possible:
- Application filled in EAS (with watermark), downloaded and signed by Supervisor from UCT. Then scan this approved application and submit it to EAS.
- Approval email from Supervisor. This email must include clear approval from the Supervisor, the name of the applicant, the topic of the dissertation thesis, and Supervisor's Department.
- Medical Assessment Form confirming your fitness to study at UCT (Use the form provided by UCT). In the matter of time pressure or technical problems you can agree with the Dean's office to upload the form later.
- Upload the documents listed below:
- Curriculum vitae (including a list of published works, other results of professional activity, and previous experience)
- Diploma and diploma supplement
- Certificate of English Language Knowledge of at least level B2 (Current UCT students: if you do not have a certificate, arrange an examination at the Department of Languages – it is necessary that you have completed the data in the EAS and send a request for an examination at outgoing@vscht.cz)
- Motivation Letter (maximum of 2 A4 pages)
- Certificate of Recognition of Previous Education
- Send the application
- Download the application to PDF (this option is to be found in EAS), sign it and have it signed by the supervisor. After that, upload the signed application as an attachment to EAS (upload it to the section Detailed information on admission procedure). This application has to be provided to Dean's office and Application Jury.
In the event that the applicant successfully passes the admissions procedure, it will be necessary to provide certified copies of the Diploma and Diploma Supplement and the original Medical Assessment Form in order to be officially enrolled in the studies.
