Information on this page pertains only to candidates enrolled after 1. 9. 2025.
If you are looking for study information for candidates enrolled before 1. 9. 2025, see the study obligations page.
Enrolment
Enrolments are conducted according to the instructions of the Dean's Offices, and the study of DSP typically begins on September 1, or as agreed upon with the supervisor and the faculty study secretary. If there are changes in the information provided in the study application or during enrolment during the course of the study, it is the doctoral candidate's responsibility to report the changes promptly to the faculty's Dean's Office. Are an external candidate (e.g. at Czech Academy of Sciences)? We recommend that you arrive at the registration together with your supervisor.
· Faculty of Chemical Technology (FCT/FCHT)
· Faculty of Environmental Technology (FET/FTOP)
· Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology (FFBT/FPBT)
· Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FCE/FCHI)
Every user of the computer network at UCT Prague has their own username and password, which they use to access UCT Prague's network services. Candidates will receive information on what their login should look like when enrolling in the program. Upon the first login, changing the user password is required (more information is available on the Computing Centre’s website).
Training and administration
It is essential to complete occupational health and safety (BOZP) and fire protection (PO) training as soon as possible. Discuss with your supervisor what additional training your work may require (e.g., electrical safety in electronics, pressure vessels, stable pressure containers, training for drivers of vehicles up to 3.5 tons).
Additionally, it is good practice to fill in your office number and phone line in the Phone Book.
Filling out the ISP in SIS
Furthermore, it is necessary to fill out personal information in the SIS (Student Information System) as soon as possible, and, in agreement with your supervisor, complete an individual study plan (ISP) in the e-doctoral student module within the SIS. It is recommended that you do this within 30 days of starting your studies. This is the first study requirement, on which the entire further study process is based.
In addition to the Doctoral Colloquium 1, candidates in the ISP select at least three doctoral study courses and provisionally fill in the planned date of their completion, as well as the planned date for completing the student conference in English (if required by the relevant doctoral study board).
· Doctoral Study Course Offerings
(Note: The number of courses from modules A and B listed on the individual DSP pages are valid for candidates who started before 1. 9. 2025. For candidates starting after 1. 9. 2025, one course from Module A is always Doctoral Colloquium 1. Please consider this information when selecting the number of subjects.)
Attention: Courses entered into the ISP must be specialized doctoral courses (i.e., not bachelor's or master's courses). At the UCT Prague, these are courses marked with the course code P (i.e., not B, N, or V). If the course is taught outside the university, it is necessary to verify that it is a doctoral course and to provide proof of this (a link to the information system of the university in question or confirmation from the lecturer). Courses that do not meet this condition cannot be recognized as fulfilled study obligations. The accuracy of the courses entered in the ISP is not guaranteed – please pay attention to which courses you are enrolling in.
Conditions of Study in Doctoral Study Programmes
The framework Conditions for study in DSP, as determined by the departmental councils at individual faculties, including information on the number of mandatory-elective subjects from modules A and B, are provided in the documents at the end of this page.
A more precise description of how to register for mandatory-elective subjects in the ISP in the e-doctoral student module within the SIS will be published soon.
Newly enrolled doctoral students electronically complete their study plans in the SIS in the e-doctoral student module. Newly enrolled doctoral students will receive clarification on this information immediately after enrolment at the latest. The deadline for submitting the completed ISP in the SIS for those students enrolling at the beginning of September is typically September 20, with the deadline for supervisor approval following shortly after the student's deadline (usually September 30). Therefore, data entry and approval should be coordinated accordingly. Filling in ISP is a study obligation.
· You can find the manual for entering subjects into the ISP here.
